DEKA is a newspaper made for and with the design community at the Estonian Academy of Arts. The first edition introduced the publication as a space for students and teachers to share ideas, work and perspectives from within the faculty. A year later, DEKA returned with its second edition, continuing the conversation and expanding its view across the school and wider design field. Across both editions, the newspaper collects voices, fragments, student work, teaching practices and ongoing discussions from EKA’s design community. It moves between education, practice and the wider social questions design engages with, looking at how design shapes ways of thinking, working and understanding the world. Rather than presenting a fixed overview, DEKA captures the faculty as something constantly moving, shaped by the people studying, teaching and working within it.
